Training takes place at the Simba School pools under the authority of the Simba Seals coaches. Training commences in August of each season, through to April of the following year. Training sessions are held from Monday through to Friday, with sessions also sometimes being held on Saturdays.
Swimmers are placed into different training groups according to their level of ability. We have tried to provide some choice in time slots so that children are able to participate in school extra curricular activities in addition to attending swimming training. However once assigned to particular sessions, children may not change to different time slots.
Training schedules are sent to the Simba Seals Google Group on a regular basis. If you are a member of Simba Seals but are not yet on the Simba Seals mailing list, please contact us asap.
Training is restricted to swimmers who have completed the proper registration procedures and who are fully paid up members.
ALL swimmers MUST wear a swimming cap (not the official gala cap) in the pool at all training sessions.
Parents may observe sessions but may not go onto the pool deck and are asked not to speak to either the coaches or the children during sessions, so as to avoid disrupting the sessions. Please make an appointment to see the coaches if you wish to discuss anything with them. We recommend that parents of Learn to Swim children do NOT stay near the poolside, as the children tend to respond better if their parents are not present.
Please also note that the school pools are out of bounds to all swimmers and parents, without the express permission of the school. Do not take your swimmers on your own to any of the pools at any time, over and above the normal school-approved Simba Seals sessions.
